A traffic-collision report can become an important starting point after a car accident. It may identify the drivers, vehicles, insurers, witnesses, location, and investigating officer. It can also contain a diagram or narrative that insurers examine when evaluating a claim. Obtaining the correct document can be confusing because filing a new collision report is different from requesting a report that has already been filed. Tulsa Police Department records and Oklahoma's statewide collision-record system also have different request procedures.

Delivery vans are everywhere in Oklahoma. Amazon packages, FedEx and UPS shipments, groceries, restaurant orders, medical supplies, and other goods are delivered to homes and businesses every day. When a delivery driver causes a collision, however, the claim may be more complicated than an ordinary car accident. The name or logo on a delivery vehicle may not identify the driver's actual employer. Multiple insurance policies may apply. The delivery company may also possess route information, dispatch messages, onboard-camera footage, package scans, and other electronic evidence that an injured person cannot obtain independently.
